A pilot second lieutenant in 1937, in 1940 he is assigned to the 252nd Bombing Squadrilla (46th Wing). Transferred to the Experimental Torpedo Bombers Division, he trains on the SIAI S.79. He then operates in northern Africa with the 278th Squadrilla and in the Aegean Sea with the 281st Squadrilla. As from 1942 he leads the 132nd Torpedo Bombers Group. After sinking 100,000 tonnes of enemy ships he is captured by the Americans (November 1942). After the armistice, he joins the Italian Co-Belligerent Air Force of the “Kingdom of the South”. He dies in Campo Vesuvio on 23 August 1944 in an airplane accident. Commemorative Gold Medal of Military Valor, six Silver Medals of Military Valor, one Iron Cross 2nd Class.
