The Schneider and Baracca Trophies

In the period from 1913 to 1931, pilots and seaplanes from various nations go head to head in various editions to win the Schneider cup that the British finally win after three consecutive victories (1927, 1929 and 1931). It is a sports challenge that sees the fastest aircraft in a race between different technological approaches: the British Supermarine, the American Curtiss, the Italian Macchi, models of reference for the future war productions. Three editions of the Baracca cup are held in the 1920’s (1921, 1922 and 1923), organised in honour of the Italian ace who died in WWI. They are then replaced in the course of the 1930’s with the Baracca prize to compensate pilots who distinguish themselves in the various air races, such as Francesco Agello.
