The Records

(1910-1930)

Starting in 1910, it is a constant race towards success, towards breaking records, towards a victory that can set a personal and collective national record. The Italian pilots are among those who stand out in this spasmodic quest for sports triumphs that can somehow establish an insurmountable border for adversary aviators: routes and destinations never reached before, altitudes never touched before and itineraries never tested before and increasingly faster, make the sky the field of infinite competition. The world of aviation seems dominated almost exclusively by male myths and figures. In actual fact, women manage to cut out their own significant space, such as, more notably, Caterina M. Negrone and the unfortunate Gaby Angelini.
