The Spanish Civil War (1936-1939)

A volunteer in the Spanish war with the 23rd Figher Group ‘Ace of Clubs’ (Fiat CR.32), during WWII he fights in the skies over Malta (1940) at the controls of a Macchi C.200. In 1941 he is in northern Africa where he leads the 72nd Fighter Squadrilla. In 1942 the unit moves to Sardinia with the new Macchi C.202 aircraft. After the armistice of 8 September 1943, he becomes a member of the Italian Social Republic (RSI) and fights in the 3rd Squadrilla ‘Archer’ of the National Republican Air Force (ANR). He is discharged with the rank of colonel in the 1960’s. Four Silver Medals of Military Valor.
