After graduating from high-school, he enlists in the Italian Royal Air Force. In 1933 he is promoted to pilot second lieutenant. In May 1935, he is recalled to serve in the 7th Wing, specialising in bombing and ship torpedoing. Promoted to lieutenant and night flight instructor, in 1937 he volunteers to fight in Spain. Stationed in the Balearic islands, he fights with the 25th Group ‘Balearic Bats’ (251st Squadrilla). He is downed by republican anti-aircraft artillery during a bombing mission on 25 October 1937, crashing with his SIAI S.81. Trento has a street still named after him.
