In WWI he is a tail gunner and a fighter pilot (122nd, 108th and 82nd Squadrilla). Immediately after the war he participates in the Rome-Tokyo raid, travelling for 18,000 km on an Ansaldo SVA9: after more than 100 hours of flight, he lands in the Japanese capital on 31 May 1920. In 1928, together with Carlo Del Prete, he completes another transoceanic flight between Italy and Brazil (Montecelio-Touros). In 1935 he survives an accident on a SIAI S.80. He dies in 1941 while testing a prototype at the Guidonia Testing Centre. Two medals of Military Valor – Gold and Silver – and one Gold Medal of Aeronautic Valor
