Test Pilots and Experimenters

The third son of the Duce, he fights in Ethiopia with the 14th Squadrilla ‘Lion’s Head’ and then takes part in many propaganda-oriented flights (Italy-Brazil transoceanic flight). In command of the 205th Bombing Squadrilla (the ‘Green Rats’), equipped with S.79 aircraft, he fights in the Spanish war. In 1937 he achieves various competitive successes and aviation records. In WWII, he is assigned to the 47th Bomb Wing and then to the 46th Wing (274th Wide Range Bombing Squadrilla, BGR), that flies the new four-engine heavy bombers Piaggio P. 108B. He dies in a serious airplane accident on 7 August 1941. Gold Medal of Aeronautic Valor.
