Inventor of the first Italian heliplane, in September 1909 he takes part in the Brescia Circuit, one of the very first international air races. In November 1909 he meets Gianni Caproni, a young and unknown engineer. It is thanks to the suggestions of the latter that, on 10 January 1910, Moncher’s aircraft ‹Elodie› performs its first ‘flight’. A trace of the partnership between the two Trentino men is the Rebus engine installed on the Caproni Ca.6 (the oldest airplane of those on exhibit at the Gianni Caproni Aviation Museum), originally mounted on the Elodie. Elodie is Moncher’s only flying experience.
